SibFight Thai Boxing Tournament 2018
On September 30, 2018, Kemerovo hosted Thai boxing (or Muay Thai) – one of the most spectacular martial arts in the world! The Arena Sports Complex hosted the SibFight professional Thai boxing tournament. This evening, to the delight of the spectators who filled the stands of the sports complex, the fighters showed all the beauty of the Muay Thai martial art: the rituals of wai kru and ram muay, a variety of techniques, including hard blows with elbows and knees, the battle for victory until the very end. The victories were won in the literal sense of the word with sweat and blood, that's why they are more valuable. The strongest Russian taiboxers – champions of Russia, the world and Europe - fought in the ring. The main event of the evening was the tournament-"four" in the 60 kg weight category for the belt of the champion of Russia among professionals.
The current world champion Hayk Begyan (Nizhny Novgorod), Russian champion Dmitry Kovtun (Chelyabinsk), European champion, World Championship finalist, finalist of the World Martial Arts Games Alexander Abramov (Kemerovo), world youth champion Mark Valovich (St. Petersburg) fought for the trophy.
The tournament was held with the support of the Kuzbass Thai Boxing Federation, the OKS company acted as the general sponsor.
In rating duels we met:
- 48 kg – Anastasia Kolosova (Chelyabinsk) vs. Vera Boogie (Kemerovo);
- 60 kg – Andrey Yastrebov (Prokopyevsk) vs. Vladimir Shilnov (Kemerovo);
- 51 kg – Hovsep Aslanyan (Novosibirsk) vs. Kirill Shemyagov (Kemerovo);
- 71 kg – Stanislav Aben (Novosibirsk) vs. Eduard Saik (Kiselevsk);
- 86 kg – Haji Medzhidov (Kizlyar) vs. Mikhail Sartakov (Novosibirsk);
- 91 kg – Evgeny Nikitin (Novosibirsk) vs. Semyon Shelepov (Prokopyevsk).
Following the results of the competition, Alexander Abramov became the champion of Russia in Thai boxing among professionals. Over the past few years, the Kuzbass national Thai boxing team has taken first places at the championships and Cups of Russia, and the national team has excelled at the European and world Championships.
